28weeks

this week
marks
the beginning
of
the 3rd trimester
and
our new life
in
our new apartment.

now that
we have
wee grub's room
(which is currently
a very large closet
with all our clothes
in bins)
i am beginning
to feel
the urgency
of preparation.

i feel like
a bad parent...
i have
so little
for wee grub
aside from
a few items
of clothing,
a few types of carriers,
some baby books,
and
a breast pump.
we are currently
feeling a bit
ill-prepared...
so grub
is reading up
and
i am planning
the baby room
(with much of
grub's input).
i am also
pouring over
a few excel
spreadsheets
my friends made
of baby necessities
(thanks fpea, beth, & kristen).
we'll see
how
it goes.
i still
(naively?)
feel that
as long
as wee grub
has diapers,
a place
to sleep
a boob,
and
a doting
mom and dad,
somehow
we will all manage.
i sure hope so.

friday
grub and i
went to
our OB doctor
for the
28 week ultrasound.
we learned
that grub,
like me,
is RH negative.
that means
wee grub
is
also
going to be
RH negative

(or better be
for my sake!)

so no painful
shots for me-
hooray!
since
only ~15%
of the population
are Rh negative,
i found that
to be
further proof
how perfectly
matched
grub and i are!

28 weeks: grumpy wee grub

during the
ultrasound
we saw a
3D photo
of wee grub.
we couldn't help
but laugh
when we saw
wee grub's
grumpy face!
i can't believe
how much
she/he looks
like grub!
grub was
offended
but look at
grub's grumpy face
and
you decide:

28weeks_grumpygrub

what's your
opinion?
don't you think
they have
the same
grumpy mouth?

this next
week
we are all
off to
the french riviera
for my bug conference.
wee grub gets
to spend
some of
her/his 28th week
on the beaches
of antibes.
i get to
strut around
in
my maternity
bathing suit-
oh goody
{not really}.

c'est tout!
xo

ps wee grub
is now
1 kg & 200g
(2.6 lbs)!

  2. E and I agree that it IS grub's face! Too freaky and cool. You're right, you don't really need that much stuff for baby. But it's good to know what's out there and how/if friends have used x, y, z. We've discovered a few life-savers that way.

  3. 28 weeks! i can't believe it. i am cracking up about the grumpy resemblance (sorry, grub, it's kind of true.) and yes! you will manage, no matter what. (easy for me to say with no littles, huh?) i love that your friends made you excel spreadsheets to know what's what and what you need. maybe i will be hitting you up for the same advice one day :) xox
